South Africa's women lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 — PCB

South Africa women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan’s women by 127 runs in the first one-day international (ODI) at the National Stadium, Karachi on Friday.

Chasing the target of 293, the home side kept on losing wickets at intervals and never really managed to build a long partnership as they were soon all-out for just 165 runs.

Aliya Riaz — who helped the Green Shirts win the T20I series with her heroics — once again top-scored for the home side by scoring 49 off 58.

She also completed 1000 ODI runs during her innings.

On the other hand, the skipper Nida Dar played her 100th ODI for the Green Shirts.

Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba took three wickets each for the winning side and played a key role in the visitor’s victory.

Batting first, the visitors lost early wickets as they were 64-3 in just 9.1 overs but then Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp's 183-run partnership helped the Proteas reach a competitive total.

Luss (107 off 129) and Kapp (100 off 125) played valiant knocks and were the top scorers for their sides.

For Pakistan, Nashra Sundhu took two wickets while Umme Hani and Aliya Riaz bagged one each.
